The location of the resort itself offers a multitude of advantages. First, The Resort at Forest Haven will be located in a warm, temperate climate. This makes for relatively mild winters and warm summers resulting in an extended growing season and easier heating of houses and other buildings. The large amount of sunlight will make solar energy a viable part of the energy production of the resort. In addition, the resort’s location puts it in the middle of a region known for vast, dense pine and oak forests. Trees obviously provide many benefits — but especially to those individuals who are attempting to live in society that no longer benefits from the comforts of an interconnected world population. Trees, in this environment, would provide fuel, shade, building material, oxygen, cover from assailants, habitat for animals, and other essential resources.
Further, the region receives 50 to 60 inches of rain per year and averages 4 to 5 inches of precipitation per month — each and every month. This lends itself to a regular, consistent water supply for drinking, cooking, washing, flushing, irrigating, sanitizing, and many other everyday uses. The resort is located hundreds of miles north of major hurricane-impact zones and is also somewhat south of the infamous tornado alley zone. Likewise forest fires are quite uncommon as are major earthquakes and other potential natural disasters. The most likely disaster would be the potential for flooding; each building of the resort will take great precautions to ensure that, in a time of intense rainfall, there are adequate avenues for excess water to flow. Finally, resort homeowners will carry extensive flood insurance to ensure that if there is a localized flood, all damaged property can be replaced in a timely manner.
Another advantage of the location of the resort will be its somewhat close proximity to several major airports (Atlanta, Birmingham, and Tennessee) while maintaining its relative low population density.
